YUKI 勇気 ☺

YUKI 勇気 ☺

Calling out kids of yesterday, today, and the future generation to be heroines and heroes of their own stories.

Whilst mainstream cartoons and animations told of the same old simple romance story — princesses waiting on their prince to gift them their happily ever after…The brilliant Japanese animated film — Spirited Away, follows a different tale, where 10-year-old Chihiro, the main protagonist (girl) goes on a dauntless, spine-chilling journey to a mysterious village, saving her parents, friends, and the village all by herself.

A kidswear collection produced and inspired by how Director Hayao Miyazaki rewrites the narrative of every little kid’s dream in hopes of also igniting their inner potential, to be heroines and heroes of their own story even at a very young age. The collection also seeks to encourage the exposure of experiences in a foreign environment for kids who are transitioning into adulthood as it influences their growth and evokes courage, bravery, and boldness in them, just like the name of the collection implies — YUKI.

01 — Journal Sketches

02 — MOODBOARD INSPIRATION

For this collection, I adopted a unisex style and loose silhouette to promote space and freedom of movement in times for a fun adventure. I also incorporated a convertible waterproof trench coat that protects the wearer from wild weather whilst being able to transform into a bag that is ever-ready to carry essentials on the go.

To finish it off, a greyish-dark palette depicts a generation of kids who are “nonconformist”, bold enough to take up and face life’s challenges ahead of them.
